Being the only and the first Laboratory having International Accreditation in the field , all kinds of testing and analysis in cotton, wool and synthetic textile materials from fibre to yarn, and from fabrics to finished products and carpets, are carried out in the Physical and Chemical Laboratories of BUTAL , which are fully equipped with modern test and analysis equipment to meet the demands of the exporting companies. according to Turkish and international standards, mainly in textiles. |

In addition to quality control services given, assessment of production faults and providing consultancy services in this field are the other main fields of interests of BUTAL. Furthermore, tests and analysis have been initiated on leather, ceramics, food, metallurgy and automotive sector. |

The Environmental Laboratory
of BUTAL provides analyses of drinking water, wastewater , process water, emission of chimney smokes, coal and fuel-oil analyses according to Turkish and international standards. Besides, contractual services are provided
for the mills, on short term and long term basis . |

TUBITAK Bursa Test And Analysis Laboratory has been founded by Sümerbank as "Textile Training and Research Centre" SAGEM, in Bursa, on 1 November 1972, to provide research, development, training and consultancy services
with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the Turkish textile sector.
It has been taken over by TÜBİTAK upon the
privatisation program of the government and started to serve the industry as TEAL
under the management of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre Textile Institute as of April 1996 , and has improved the scope of activities after getting affiliated directly to TÜBİTAK as of 24 February 2001 with the name of TUBITAK Bursa Test and Analysis Laboratory ,
BUTAL.
BUTAL has been accredited by the international accreditation body, DAP, in Germany as of July 9, 2001.
